Crafted in Sanjo, Japan
This kenzan is handmade in Sanjo, a city with a long tradition of fine metalwork dating back to the 17th century. Skilled artisans with over 50 years of experience carefully produce each piece using time-honored techniques.

Designed for Ikebana and Modern Floral Arrangements
Perfect for Japanese ikebana, Western-style bouquets, and everyday flower displays. The sturdy base and dense needle layout keep stems upright and flowers fresh, making it a sustainable alternative to floral foam.

Strong Brass Pins and Heavy Base
Sharp brass pins securely hold both delicate stems and thicker branches. The weight of the cast iron base provides excellent stability while you arrange, and the bold red finish adds a modern, vibrant accent.

Traditional Tool with a Contemporary Touch
This kenzan blends practical function with bold design. Reusable and built to last, it's ideal for home décor, florists, or anyone who appreciates beautiful, high-quality floral tools.

Well Made Kenzan For Your Own Creations

Ikebana according to the dictionary is the art of Japanese flower arrangement, with formal display according to strict rules. It originally started using sticks to hold the flowers, however someone has invented the pinned based, called a kenzen, to create more modern arrangements. I like to have flowers in my house and I was very thrilled to find this Ikebana base to create my own version of their craft. While I am am not versed in the rules of the art, I created my own eye pleasing creations with this Japanese flower holder. The base itself IS made in Japan and is well made and has a beautiful finish. Little tell-tale signs indicate it is hand made with machinery. The pins are spaced a good distance apart for holding various sized flower stems and are sharp enough to pierce the stems easily. Nevertheless, they are not super sharp to touch. I can, actually, press my hand on the Ikebana holder and it does not hurt. Pressing individual pins do feel sharper, however. The large diameter and weight of the kenzan keeps taller creations from tipping over. I like my Wazakura Ikebana Kenzan. Creating the arrangements gives me much pleasure!
