Visit Wazakura Japan in Kyoto: Japanese Bonsai, Gardening & Ikebana Tools

We are happy to welcome visitors to the Wazakura Japan store in Kyoto, where you can discover our Japanese-made bonsai, gardening and ikebana tools in person.

Located in central Kyoto, just a short walk from Nishiki Market, Karasuma-Oike Station and Rokkakudo Temple, our store is set inside a beautifully restored, approximately 100-year-old Kyoto machiya townhouse. The first floor is home to the Asayu Store Cafe, while the second floor features Wazakura tools alongside products from our sister brand, Asayu.

Whether you are an experienced bonsai enthusiast, a gardener, practise ikebana or are simply interested in traditional Japanese craftsmanship, we hope the store can be a small stop during your time in Japan.

Discover Wazakura Tools in Person

Wazakura specialises in 100% made-in-Japan bonsai, gardening and ikebana tools, working with skilled Japanese craftspeople to create tools designed for precision, durability and everyday use.

At our Kyoto store, you can see a selection of our tools in person, including:

  • Japanese bonsai tools – bonsai scissors, branch cutters, wire cutters, pliers and other specialist tools
  • Japanese gardening tools – pruning shears, scissors and traditional garden tools
  • Ikebana tools – Japanese ikebana scissors, kenzan and accessories
  • Bonsai pots and related items

Shopping in person also gives you something that is difficult to experience online: the opportunity to hold the tools, feel their weight and balance, and test the movement of the scissors and cutters before choosing the right tool for you.

Japanese Craftsmanship in the Heart of Kyoto

The location is especially fitting for Wazakura.

Just a short walk away is Rokkakudo Temple, closely associated with the origins of ikebana in Kyoto. The store itself is housed inside a restored traditional machiya that has stood in the city for around a century.

It offers visitors the chance to experience Japanese tools and craftsmanship in a setting that reflects the traditions behind them.

After visiting the Wazakura shop upstairs, you can also stop at the Asayu matcha cafe on the first floor, which serves Japanese matcha and tea throughout the day. No cafe purchase is required to visit the Wazakura shop — visitors are welcome to come upstairs and browse.
