Bought this for my sister who creates flower arrangements for friends and family. She loved the collection of items because she can be more creative with them.

These flower frogs are really beautifully made, and perfect for a minimalist flower arrangement in a wide, shallow bowl designed for Ikebana. The small, heavy package is very aesthetically designed with the frogs arranged in a Sakura shape, and has a small pamphlet showing other Ikebana products that the company sells. I wish there had been a few more details about the story behind these and where they are made, as in the product page, as this is a lovely product to gift a budding (pardon the pun!) Ikebana enthusiast or gardener in your life!

I will start by saying that I am Clueless about the art of kenzan and ikebana I actually had to google to know what such item serves for. I do love flowers and bringing the nature indoors makes me happy. This Sakura kenzan is beautiful and lovely presented in a small gift box, as you can see from other people’s pictures, so I shall not bore you with more of the same. The five piece petals have a good weight and the size according to the seller’s specifications, however I am not a person of numbers and I was still surprised at how small these are. It makes me happy and it feeds my mind to think that some person in the faraway Japan had worked on this item by hand, so that I can have it :)The petals have a good weight to them, but not heavy enough to hold most of the flowers upright. You will need miniature flowers with little weight on top, or the lightweight wispy kind, such as clematis or baby breath to make it stand up. I had a lot of trouble to make mine stand upright, in a small and shallow crystal lid. I did succeed eventually, more or less, after shortening the stems some more. So yes, this is my first Kenzan (hopefully not my last) and I probably started with a difficult one. I imagine the ones made from one larger piece would not topple over so readily. But I love it! This type made of small pieces would make a great base for a floating bowl of flowers, to stabilize them. It also works for small, lightweight and wispy flowers. If worse comes to worse, I recommend using a rubber band at the base to increase stability . It’s beautifully, beautifully presented, and I recommend it!

Wazakura’s ikebana kenzan metal posts are beautifully crafted and have a nice weight to them. These can be easily used in clusters or individually depending on your mood, and what plants/flowers are available to you. These are beautifully presented and would make a lovely gift.*The pins are VERY sharp, so be careful when handling them.
